Sunday shorts - Dark Sky party under the stars

The Beaver Hills Astronomical Society of Canada is hosting a "Party Under the Stars" tonight to celebrate the Beaver Hills Dark Sky preserves.

Dark sky preserves are area that are far enough from cities that there is no "light pollution". You can clearly see the planets, constellations and even the Milky Way on clear nights.

The fun begins at 3pm with guided hikes, children's activities and storytelling until midnight. The preserve is located approximately 1 hour East of Edmonton in the Elk Island National Park (Astotin Lake area) with more information available here.
