Silver Skate & Winter Camp

The next two events from Winter Light happen this weekend!

Silver Skate and Winter Camp are the next celebrations of Edmonton's winter season - hey, if we're going to live in a wintery city, we might as well have fun with it!

The 20th annual Silver Skate runs today, February 19th through until Sunday February 21st in Hawrelak Park. Silver Skate combines sports, art and family with skating competitions, winter triathlons, snow sculpture and lots more. The opening ceremonies start today at 3:30 and the event finishes up tonight at 10pm. You can catch more events from 10am until 9pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Winter Camp also takes place in Hawrelak Park, this Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 9pm. There are tipis, tents, and tupiq set up to share stories, meet with aboriginal elders and enjoy the warmth of the central fires. There are drumming workshops, Inuit arts and even a dance tipi.
