Keiskamma African Art Project

Annette Schouten Woudstra is bringing a taste of South Africa to the Timms Centre on the U of A campus this weekend will a silent art auction. She is the organizer of the Edmonton wing of Keiskamma, an art & medical program in Africa. Keiskamma works with the community to create artwork to help support the local population, as well as assisting in AIDS treatment.

The artists from Keiskamma have created some spectacular artworks, including the three large embroidered tapestries shown here. All three works are currently on a world tour and have made stops in many large centres.

Dr. Carol Baker Hofmeyer (the director of the project) will be presenting a keynote address at the U of A, tomorrow evening, May 2nd from 5:30 - 7pm in the Humanities Centre.

The silent auction will take place in the Timms Centre from 7 - 9m, with tickets $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
