in my opinion... thrifting

Ah, there are few things as exciting as finding a hidden treasure... even if that treasure is a pair of blue jeans or a great CD. Edmonton has it's fair share of thrift shops, consignment stores and even high end second-hand clothing boutiques. But where's the best place to score a fantastic find?

Now, this is just my opinion, but I've gotten some awesome deals in Goodwill and Salvation Army thrift stores. New brand-name jeans for $7, hard cover books for $1 - even a pair of knee high leather boots (with the original price tag!) for $10.

Thrifting definitely takes patience and a certain amount of time. It can be worthwhile to check out some of the stores off the beaten path. Some of the second hand shops in the trendier parts of Edmonton get stripped bare of the really good stuff awfully fast. There are some boutique thrift stores that will even go in and buy the good stuff and re-sell it in their store... with a hefty mark-up of course :-)

The thrill of the hunt is definitely worth putting some time in - happy thrifting...
