Face the Nation

facethenation.jpg

I'm really impressed by Face the Nation, a new exhibit at Art Gallery of Alberta, on until September 21/08. It's New Portraits of the Past by Contemporary Aboriginal Artists.

The exhibition features the work of a selection of eight contemporary Aboriginal artists from across the country. They include:
KC Adams
Lori Blondeau
Dana Claxton
Terrance Houle
Maria Hupfield
Kent Monkman
Adrian Stimson
Jeff Thomas

It tackles issues of history, representation and identity and the role of art in myths and stereotypes of people and cultures.

Check out Art Gallery of Alberta online.
