end of summer activities

summertime field.jpg

I hate to admit it, but summer is slowly winding down in Edmonton - after all, the kids are back in school within the next couple of weeks!

That means it's time to catch up on those activities that you've promised the family you'll do over the summer... but haven't quite gotten around to.

Fort Edmonton Park is open daily until September 1st, but after that, it's just open on Sundays... until September 27th. There are limited weekend hours in the winter, from November 1st until December 28th - but the trains, midway rides and food services are all closed.

The Valley Zoo is open year-round, but beginning September 2nd, the visiting hours are shorter. It's on my list of places to visit next week - it's been awhile since I've been to the zoo :-)

While you're at Fort Edmonton Park, check out the John Janzen Nature Centre as well - it shares a parking lot with the Fort. The Nature Centre is also switching to shorter hours for the fall and winter, so make sure you arrive in plenty of time to enjoy the glimpse into Edmonton's wildlife.
