Celebrate Victoria Day with the Great Divide Waterfall

The City of Edmonton is bringing back the popular great divide waterfall to celebrate Victoria Day and the start of summer.

The great divide waterfall has been a great Edmonton tradition for almost three decades now. It's always a fun event to share with friends and family - whether local, or from out of town.

Remember that it can get a little busy driving home, so consider taking public transit instead.

"On September 1, 1980, the Great Divide Waterfall was turned on for the first time. The concept was designed by local artist, Peter Lewis, in the late 1970’s and approved by council for construction in 1980. Approximately 50,000 litres of water per minute flow over the bridge and drop 64 metres into the North Saskatchewan River below. This unique landmark has become a local favourite and attraction for visitors.

Spectators can view the waterfall from spots along the river bank on either side of the river east of the High Level Bridge from 109th Street to 105th Street. Public parking is available in Victoria Park and Kinsmen in the River Valley."
