Celebrate New Year's eve in downtown Edmonton

NewYearsDowntown2008.jpg

Rock in the New Year in Edmonton's biggest and oldest New Year's eve celebration!

The indoor fun starts at 7pm at the City Hall with a kid's craft area, a magician and balloon artist. At 9pm you can head over the Stanley Milner Library Theatre for more free kid's crafts and entertainment.

If you want to party outside, check out the dance party in Sir Winston Churchill Square. There's skating at the City Hall Plaza from 9pm - 11:30pm. Take a tour of downtown in a horse-drawn sleigh from 100 Street and 102 Avenue north to 102 A Avenue east to 99 Street South to 102 Avenue and back to 100 Street and 102 Avenue. The rides begin at 9pm and run through until 11:30pm.

The fireworks begin at midnight and, weather permitting are visible throughout the River Valley.

Don't forget that traffic can be a little busy afterwards, so plan ahead or take public transit (after all, public transit is free on New Year's eve from 6pm to 3am)

There's a ton of activities so check them all out online here.
