ARENA: The Art of Hockey opens October 4/08

Hockey is Canada's national sport. A new exhibition on hockey, ARENA: The Art of Hockey, will open October 4/08 at the Art Gallery of Alberta.

"ARENA draws on the creativity in sport and art to provide a fresh perspective on our fascination with Canada's national pastime," says the gallery.

Participating artists focus on particular players, moments in hockey history to personal hockey stories. They include Lisa Birke, Mark Bovey, Tony Scherman, Annika Larsson, Leah Modigliani and many more.

On October 4/08, there will a Curator's tour of ARENA at 1:00. At Artful Arenas, gallery visitors will be able to design a mini-arena with movable hockey player and centre ice logo.
