Alberta imports firefighters to counter extreme fire hazard

Temperatures in excess of 30 degrees and minimal precipitation have pushed the wildfire hazard to extreme levels throughout the province's Forest Protection Area, says the Government of Alberta.

Yesterday, Alberta imported 160 Ontario firefighters to enhance the province's ability to quickly respond to and contain wildfires sparked during this current period of extreme fire hazard.

With additional lightning activity forecast for later in the week, these firefighing resources will further strengthen Alberta's ability to respond to increased numbers of wildfires and extreme fire behaviour.

For more information about the fire hazard in Alberta and wildfires in the province, go online. To report a fire, call 310-FIRE
